    More than just a microwave...

    5/5
The Samsung MC28M6055 microwave is so much more than just a microwave. It will appeal to both cooks and non-cooks alike with its easy to use instructions and extensive range of cooking features: including ‘hot blast’ and ‘slim fry’ options. I love the design, which makes a subtle statement with clean lines and sleek black finish that produces an expensive look. Samsung have stepped away from the usual handle or push button door opening, and have instead adopted a sleek metallic lip that gently curves out from the top of the microwave to pull the door open. Again the design oozes quality and it’s easy to clean, but its how well it cooks that truly inspired me. This microwave is for more than just reheating yesterday’s leftovers, it is a microwave, grill, fryer, and oven in one compact product. It is perfect for a small household, but would easily appeal to the single person who can whip up an entire meal in minutes. The product comes with two racks: low and high, and a crusty plate, which like a heavy non-stick baking tray with a non-slip rubber bottom. I really liked this plate, which is a nice quality and worked a treat when used with the slim fry and hot blast options. The slim fry option uses less oil than traditional frying and reduced my usual cooking times by half. The results were my food was crispy on the outside yet still moist on the inside, which thoroughly impressed me. The ‘hot blast’ is basically an oven, so you can use the temperature settings and times as you would with your cooker, or you can use the ‘hot blast auto’, which at the push of a button works out the temperature and time for you. To make things really easy there is a sticker along the top on the inside of the microwave with a list of various foods and the best settings to use for each. But don’t just think it’s just for fried food, there is a ‘healthy cooking’ option too that cooked my rice to perfection. For those who like to bake there is also a ‘dough proof /yogurt’ setting. And if you fancy making some homemade yogurt but don’t know how, then you can follow the simple instructions for this and a range of other recipes in the instruction manual, which includes the ingredients, method, and cooking instructions. Being a combination oven there is also a ‘grill’ that can be used separately or together with the ‘microwave’ in the ‘combination’ setting increasing the speed of cooking whilst ensuring food is nicely browned. The ‘defrost auto’ again gives clear settings based on the weight of the food being defrosted. I was additionally impressed with the extra features found on this product: a ‘lock’ button that is very helpful when cleaning the microwave, so that you don’t accidently click the buttons – as well as being child proof; a ‘stop/eco’ button that turns the display off to save energy; and an option to turn the rotation turntable off if cooking, for example, a chicken that is too big to rotate. Overall, I didn’t really find anything not to like. Samsung are renowned for quality technology products and this microwave is no exception. Although, I’ve had several microwaves over the years, I’ve never been so excited to use one, as I have this Samsung Easy View combination. It looks classy in my kitchen and I love the ‘easy view’ that enables me to see how well my food is cooking, so that it can quickly be stopped when it’s done. Some people may prefer the usual push button catch door opening, but I don’t thing anyone would be disappointed if they bought this microwave oven. It is a welcome addition to my kitchen, especially for occasion cooking, but I will also be using it for those meals for one or two when needed in a hurry – and I don’t mean ready microwave meals!

Sleek, modern and lots of great features!

    5/5
This combination oven combined traditional oven with microwave features allowing you to use this device in so many different ways. The advanced technology uses hot blast (quicker cooking using hot air), defrost feature, grill settings, easy view (to avoid boiling over or burning food), and even a setting for making your own yoghurt! This is a very modern design that is forward thinking not to mention it looks great! At 900W of energy, food cooks quicker and it has a generous capacity of 28L. Would definitely recommend making room for it on your worktop as it makes a great addition to our kitchen and it used most days!

    Mine's been condemned as unsafe.

Bought this from AO in August last year. Was unable to use the hotblast/grill function as the oven arcs. A couple of weeks ago I contacted Samsung about it, as I'd visited their Customer Community Forum and saw several other people had the same problem. It appears a few of these ovens are faulty, the enamel covering is missing on the back wall of the cavity causing the oven to spark when using the high rack. I contacted Samsung and the oven was collected Tuesday 22nd March who arranged for an engineer to collect the oven and inspect it. The engineer picked up the oven on 1st April. Today. had an email from Samsung saying the engineers had informed them the oven was unrepairable due to damage on the back cavity wall due to either a fault or misuse. I have sent them my receipt from AO as they requested and waiting to hear what they are going to do. After reading on the Samsung Community forum that those who accepted replacement ovens had the same problem I'm hoping for a full refund. I will telephone them in the morning. The engineer told me I wouldn't get a full refund, just a partial one as the oven wasn't brand new. This will be totally unacceptable. I wasn't able to use the oven on all programmes I should have been able to so I am pushing for a full refund or I'll complain to AO and the Trading Standards. Wish me luck.

Good replacement of a combi oven

    5/5
I love this new oven, it has some really good features and I have tried most of them already. Different to my previous Panasonic oven which failed after 8 years, the most significant difference being the heat mainly comes through side vents and not a top vent so you need to be aware what you have on the counter top! The recipes that are in the manual are useful but I would like to find more cooking instructions using this oven rather than rely on trial and error. Other than that I am very happy with my purchase!

This is a very nice microwave and has many features, I have not used them all by any means yet. Although there are some recipes in the microwave manual it would be helpful if Samsung put some recipes online especially for the slimfry option as the manual covers the bare essential like chips etc. Overall this is a good value item taking into account the number of features it has.

    Samsung have smashed it

    5/5
You can tell from the minute you get the product out of the box it has the Samsung sleek style and design you would expect from any Samsung product. It looks lovely in my kitchen but it also very functional. Not only does it have the standard features of a microwave it also has the oven combination which can do much much more. It's large 28 litre capacity allows you to make a meal without the need to turn you full size oven on. It has a slim fry option which uses air. This reminds a little of using one of the air fryers that are on the market. I tried making chips in there using the solid oven tray provided. I only need to put a small teaspoon of oil on the potatoes and season, the chips came out well cooked with a crisp. It was easy to use and also has a lock feature for safety. I also have used this product for cooking steak and chicken. With its hot blast option I found the meat looked browned but was still juicy inside. I look forward to trying many more items in here in the future. It even had a prove setting which will come in useful when me and my sons make home made pizzas. It's a really good item I would recommend. I would advise you need quite a lot of space for this though as it is a lot bigger than a standard microwave.

Major fault, arcs badly when using microwave & grill combination.

    2/5
I'm not usually one to complain about a product but this combi microwave has a major fault and all of them are the same, if you complain you get a replacement and the replacement has the same fault, so you end up getting a refund or choose another model. Read on and if yours has this fault contact Samsung before the warranty runs out. I bought this microwave in August 2021. There is one major fault with it, you cannot use the high grill as the microwave arcs really badly. Checking Samsung's customer support forum this is a known fault. Some people like me just don't use the high rack, others complain to Samsung and get another replacement which also arcs badly. Then end up either choosing another model or get a full refund. Why Samsung don't remove this product from sale until they've fixed this problem is a mystery. I'm fed up now that I can't cook anything that needs the high rack so I'm going to complain to Samsung. After all, you wouldn't buy a washing machine that didn't rinse, so why be expected to have a combination microwave that you can't grill and microwave? I've given this microwave a 6 month trial and with this major design fault it really limits what you can use it for. I'm really disappointed because the Hotblast is brilliant, the microwave is brilliant, and so are the other modes. It's just the combination grill and microwave that lights up the interior with white light sparks flying around inside. And we all know that arcing damages the magnetron, so rather than kill your combi you can either just not use that mode or do as I do and complain. If I can edit this review once I've heard from Samsung I will to let you know the outcome. It's no reflection on AO because they advise you to complain direct to the manufacturers so they probably don't know that these combi microwaves are all faulty. I won't accept a replacement because it will also have this fault as has been reported by other buyers on the Samsung forum. Watch this space!
