More than just a microwave...
5/5
The Samsung MC28M6055 microwave is so much more than just a microwave. It will appeal to both cooks and non-cooks alike with its easy to use instructions and extensive range of cooking features: including ‘hot blast’ and ‘slim fry’ options.
I love the design, which makes a subtle statement with clean lines and sleek black finish that produces an expensive look. Samsung have stepped away from the usual handle or push button door opening, and have instead adopted a sleek metallic lip that gently curves out from the top of the microwave to pull the door open. Again the design oozes quality and it’s easy to clean, but its how well it cooks that truly inspired me.
This microwave is for more than just reheating yesterday’s leftovers, it is a microwave, grill, fryer, and oven in one compact product. It is perfect for a small household, but would easily appeal to the single person who can whip up an entire meal in minutes. The product comes with two racks: low and high, and a crusty plate, which like a heavy non-stick baking tray with a non-slip rubber bottom. I really liked this plate, which is a nice quality and worked a treat when used with the slim fry and hot blast options.
The slim fry option uses less oil than traditional frying and reduced my usual cooking times by half. The results were my food was crispy on the outside yet still moist on the inside, which thoroughly impressed me. The ‘hot blast’ is basically an oven, so you can use the temperature settings and times as you would with your cooker, or you can use the ‘hot blast auto’, which at the push of a button works out the temperature and time for you. To make things really easy there is a sticker along the top on the inside of the microwave with a list of various foods and the best settings to use for each.
But don’t just think it’s just for fried food, there is a ‘healthy cooking’ option too that cooked my rice to perfection. For those who like to bake there is also a ‘dough proof /yogurt’ setting. And if you fancy making some homemade yogurt but don’t know how, then you can follow the simple instructions for this and a range of other recipes in the instruction manual, which includes the ingredients, method, and cooking instructions.
Being a combination oven there is also a ‘grill’ that can be used separately or together with the ‘microwave’ in the ‘combination’ setting increasing the speed of cooking whilst ensuring food is nicely browned. The ‘defrost auto’ again gives clear settings based on the weight of the food being defrosted.
I was additionally impressed with the extra features found on this product: a ‘lock’ button that is very helpful when cleaning the microwave, so that you don’t accidently click the buttons – as well as being child proof; a ‘stop/eco’ button that turns the display off to save energy; and an option to turn the rotation turntable off if cooking, for example, a chicken that is too big to rotate.
Overall, I didn’t really find anything not to like. Samsung are renowned for quality technology products and this microwave is no exception. Although, I’ve had several microwaves over the years, I’ve never been so excited to use one, as I have this Samsung Easy View combination. It looks classy in my kitchen and I love the ‘easy view’ that enables me to see how well my food is cooking, so that it can quickly be stopped when it’s done.
Some people may prefer the usual push button catch door opening, but I don’t thing anyone would be disappointed if they bought this microwave oven. It is a welcome addition to my kitchen, especially for occasion cooking, but I will also be using it for those meals for one or two when needed in a hurry – and I don’t mean ready microwave meals!
