    Terrible customer service from Hotpoint

    1/5
The hob was fine until it stopped working, found the buttons a bit annoying as they often are on induction hobs. The hob broke within the 1 year guarantee and I’ve been without a working hob for more than 2 months. The Hotpoint service has been absolutely terrible. 7 engineer appointments and 3 of them no engineer showed up to, without communicating the need to cancel so you’re waiting in all day. Only reason I’m finally getting a replacement is cause the last engineer told them to stop messing us around. This was after me myself having talked to them several times communicating very clearly that I wanted a replacement as it wasn’t getting fixed. Because of the customer service from Hotpoint next time I’d definitely go with another brand.

Lovely hob, looks fab. Easy to keep clean. Has boost capacity on all four rings.

Very pleased with this product, reaches temperature quickly and very reactive. I was dubious about converting from a gas hob, but it was worth the change.

Does what it says on the tin, bit frustrated you can’t quickly dial up to max by pushing - at start like the previous model. Otherwise easy to clean and installer had no difficulty. Like the ability to select power limits.

    I like this hob.

I bought this hob to replace an identical one that literally went bang, after only 2&1/2 years. This time it is covered by the insurance. Hoping that I was simply unlucky. Having said that, it's an easy to use hob, which responds quickly to any changes made in the settings. Easy to wipe clean. I was very happy with it's performance, so hoping this one will last a few years longer.

Pros & cons. Would have gone 3.5 if I could.

Firstly I'm not new to induction cooking. If you are, you will absolutely love this hob and the "my menu" feature, until you get used to how different and speedy induction cooking is. Induction hobs are significantly safer for families as the zones on the hob only activate when an induction friendly pan is in place. It heats up quickly and cools down quickly too, but has an indicator to let you know if it is still hot. I like the aesthetics of this hob and the fact that it doesn't have the traditional cooking rings to denote the cooking zones. However, I really miss my sliding temperature control that my last hob had. Who'd have thought you could get so used to something like that? When I boil water I use the pulse setting and then struggled to instantly change it once boiled as you have to select the zone before it will allow you to change the temperature. My old hob was definitely better for being able to instantly change when needed. The other slightly concerning issue is the gap between the underside of the hob and the top of the worktop. Previously we have had minor gaps where crumbs could get under, but this gap is more significant than previous models, to the point where we have had to seal it to prevent ingress of food and liquid. With the corners being quite squared off I have concerns these may easily crack if a heavy pan is slightly misplaced.
