This is my first heat pump dryer so I paid more for this make for the five year guarantee. It's not a cheap machine. I also chose Samsung as I bought a Samsung washing machine eight years ago and it's great.
I find that it can take a bit longer to dry my washing than my old condenser dryer but it comes out properly dry (unlike the old one) and doesn't need a bit more time. I've found a Mixed Dry tend to take around 1 hour 40 minutes and a Cotton Dry a little longer, still much shorter than the time shown at the start. I think clothes feel a bit softer but that could be my imagination. The clothes never seem to get hot during the drying cycle, unlike with the condenser dryer, which is probably better for them.
What I don't like is that the level of dryness is only an option on some of the programmes. I mostly want my washing to be dry, not partly dry. I should be able to choose but can't on any of the Optimal Dry programmes such as Towels, Bedding and the other Optimal Dry programmes except Shirts. Why wouldn't I want towels to be fully dry? I used Towels (medium dry only) once and the start time was an hour and a half, then it added 30 minutes and then another 30. I had to give then another 30 minutes on warm and the heavy seams were still a bit damp. Never again. I now use Cotton to dry my towels.
A big plus is that the cost to dry clothes, jeans, bedding (I use Mixed for almost everything) is about half of what it was with my previous condenser dryer. Overall I'm happy with the dryer.
