    Aeg bagless cylinder vacuum.

Very disappointed, the heads or the hose has a locking devise so everything keeps coming apart. Also even the lowest setting is too powerful for carpets. Wouldn't recommend and also checking my legal rights regarding returning.

Not very effective on carpets, OK on hard floors

I read a lot of positive reviews about this vacuum cleaner and on the basis of this, and the fact I own 2 other AEG products (dishwasher and washing machine), I thought I was buying an excellent product. On a positive note, the suction is very good and can be adjusted depending on the surface but conversely, the suction is so strong and clamp like on the carpet, that it makes moving the brush-head difficult. Even lifting the brushes on the foot pedal to avoid "scraping" the carpet still does not improve the flow of movement across the carpet. I've tried reducing the suction but it makes no real difference. Also, when I've tried to vacuum up an obvious bit of fluff on the carpet, I can go over and over it and it frustratingly does not pick up. Looking at the brush-head, the wheels are very small and there is no rotating brush and I think this is the issue. My old vaccuum cleaner had bigger brush-head wheels and a rotating brush and it picked up everything. I'm really disappointed as the suction on this cleaner is superb, but it's just not good on carpets. I've hard-floor floors too and can say, it seems to work fine on them but with a house that is mostly carpeted, this has been an expensive mistake.

    Disappointing

    1/5
So disappointed with the product. Did a lot of research and bought based on good reviews. Now 2 months on and the only advantage i can see is that it’s light. Suction is poor, we have hard floors and can still see lots left it hasn’t picked up . I have trapped my fingers twice now when adjusting the hose. The dusting tool is really poor and has a pivoting brush head which doesn’t stay in place. The cylinder is messy to empty and awkward to reassemble. Now part of the hinge has broken off it. AO have sent me back to the manufacturers as it’s 2 months old, but I’ve not had any response from them yet and it’s been over a week.

    Disappointing

I bought this vacuum as it was the only one I could find with variable suction, but even on the lowest setting I find it very hard to use. It clamps to the carpet like a limpet, making it very difficult to move. The cord is ridiculously short, we only have a small cottage, with limited power points, and have to plug in in every room. With my old vacuum I could do all downstairs and the stairs from one plug. This is made worse by the fact that the hose is so short that you have to lift the vacuum up to be able to suck a cobwebs off the ceiling - not easy. To be fair, most new vacuums seem to be the same, it must be down to the manufacturers cutting costs, who tests these things? I have kept this vacuum because I bought it reasonably and the faults are common to other makes in my price range and I can't be bothered to send it back. Good on dog hair. Hard work, not a pleasure to use.

    A Universal Design Problem ?

    3/5
A well made machine bought to replace a cylinder model twice as powerful which had served many years. After three uses of this cleaner I am still struggling to vacuum the short pile carpets at home, a job that use to take 20 minutes is now up to twice as long. The problem is adjusting the suction regulation, enough to pick up and push along without the floor nozzle clamping the surface. I see this as a major design flaw brought about by legislation that has halved the input power, demanding in this case; a big reduction in cleaning width, poor edge suction and the nozzle having to be in tight contact with the surface, hence the immovability vs suction. I will stick with it, but buyers of post legislation cleaners beware!

Light to use but with some flaws

    3/5
The cord is a bit short, which gives me no change to get to the top floor, even that the plug is just a few feet away from the stairs. Using it on carpets is a bit tricky and it seems like it doesn't get all dust away. E.g. it leaves tiny threads even though I'm trying to go over it multiple times. On the positive side it is much lighter than our previous vacuum cleaner from Hoover which was the typical "Stand-up" that I find so old-fashioned and extremely heavy to use.

    Quite good for the price

Bigger and heavier than expected (should have studied the specification properly). Yes, plenty of suction but there is a slider adjustment, when required, which works fine.. Main criticism concerns the pipes. Good that they are metal not 'plastic' but those friction taper/slip connections grip hard (as they should) and are a beast to disconnect especially for my wife (we are both seniors). The shiny slippery surfaces offer little grip for handgrasping.
