Not up to a previous era of NEFF quality

    1/5
My previous, very similar, NEFF cooker hood worked faultlessly for 30 years. I only replaced it because it was coated with 30 years of grease. The new cooker hood was already damaged when I took it out of its packaging - because the two ridiculously flimsy plastic clips holding in the vital operating buttons and associated electrical gubbins at the front of the unit had both failed and broken during transit ! Being a DIY expert I simply inserted two SCREWS carefully into the plastic control panel and into the metal of the hood structure, plus some silicon sealant around the inside of the displaced control panel, to permanently re-secure it ! TWO SCREWS for goodness sakes ! Why didn't NEFF's product engineers design this unit to be more sturdy by either using two screws themselves or simply stronger plastic clips ? What a basic design blunder ! The hood actually now works very well , though I'm unconvinced that the two bulbs shining through the metal filters is very appealing. Not something I could recommend to a potential buyer - too flimsy to believe this will still be going in five years , never mind thirty !

Poor quality and design for such a renowned brand

    1/5
My previous NEFF cooker hood worked faultlessly for 30 years. I only replaced it , with another NEFF, because after 30 years it was disgustingly internally covered in grease. Hugely disappointingly, the nowadays relocated lights and fan settings switch panel at the front, held in only by a ludicrously flimsy couple of plastic clips, was already loose on opening the packaging, and the two clips broke immediately on trying to return it to its slot ! I repaired this stupidly under-engineered switch component with some silicon sealant and TWO SCREWS ! It then worked OK. Why didn't it have those two simple screws, or a much more sturdy clip, originally ?The hood now works fine, with good extraction, but my faith in NEFF as a quality brand is destroyed. How long will this one function ? not as long as its predecessor I'd bet . Do not buy this flimsy cooker hood - unless you are as handy as me with the repair of badly designed , laughably over-flimsy, components

    Utterly disappointed

    1/5
The lights and fan work - the only positive things that we can say about this product. Purchased a Neff product for obvious quality reasons, but this is a very shoddy product. Looks and feels cheap, is very flimsy and is supplied with unclear fitting instructions. Finally, once fitted, and these units are actually very easy to fit, we found that the exhaust air was leaking out from the exhaust air flange plate. This is a very flimsy plastic plate held on by just 2 small screws and without any gasket! Think very hard before you purchase this product!

    Complete and utter disappointment

    2/5
It is hard to believe that this is a Neff product. It has a very tacky and flimsy feel, appears to have cheap components and has unclear and misleading instructions. Had always considered Neff a quality brand, and until now that has been our experience. I would suggest thinking very hard before purchasing this item. In addition it is very noisy on full power and is not silver, as stated, rather it is battleship grey.

Good solid unit with only a couple of minor niggles

    4/5
Overall the extractor is good. It does a great job of removing cooking smells, smoke, and vaporised grease from the hob below - no smell at all escapes to the rest of the house - and despite a relatively long vent run in our install, it pushes the air along admirably. The biggest downside is that it's quite noisy - I think some of this is the hard-edged transitions on the vent hose adapter causing unnecessary turbulence in the hose, but the motor is also pretty loud. Given the volume of air it moves some of this is unavoidable, of course, and I expect it'd be better if it were vented directly out the back through a hole in the wall. The other things are minor annoyances rather than real problems: - The installation to a wall was a bit of a pain. The wall plugs are a bit oversized and really needed an 8.5mm hole, not the 8mm they specified. There's a few places (adjusting the level on the wall-mounting hooks, and installing the lower two wall-mounting screws) where the unit itself gets in the way of anything other than a stubby screwdriver or a flexible shaft. The upside here is that the wall-mounting kit is massive overkill - it could support an extractor ten times the weight of this one. Our previous extractor was held in by four screws each side into the adjacent cabinets, this is practically welded to the wall in comparison. (Don't get me wrong, the install is still easily within reach of a normal DIYer. The unit plugs into a regular socket so in most cases you won't need an electrician.) - The controls are mounted in the middle of a sheet-metal panel, which flexes slightly when you press the buttons. It's not a real problem, it just doesn't feel as high-quality and robust as other Neff equipment we have and it could easily have been fixed with a supporting bar across the panel on the inside. - I can understand the unit not allowing the extractor to be turned on unless the hood is open, but there's no reason the light couldn't still be operated; it's a bit annoying that the light is on the same interlock circuit as the extractor so we have to pull the hood open if we just want to use it for a bit of extra illumination.

    Looking good

    4/5
Looks very good and modern especially like the push buttons. Cannot honestly say what it is like working as awaiting installation. Will come back and give a proper review when this is done hence only four stars. Have other Neff appliances so have high hopes that this will be just as good.

NEFF Integrated Extractor Fan - Very good but Very Noisy

    4/5
The fan was a straight forward swap for an existing fan of the same dimensions. The fan is good quality and works very well and is very powerful. In fact it is so powerful it is too noisy, even at the lowest setting. For our household the less powerful model would have done.
