9 months on and not happy

    1/5
I’m going to start by saying that this product has just defrosted all of the food in it despite the display saying that the freezer is at -19c and that the Samsung customer service is terrible. I bought this product from ao.com 9 months ago. Other thoughts - ice generation is really noisy - constant sound of clonking ice cubes. The drawer in the freezer comes out of its runners frequently. The rather bizarre sliding shelf arrangement (designed to give double height for bottles) seems to slide of its own accord. To be honest, I’ve just reminded myself what I paid for this product and I’m rather shocked now I have 9 months experience of it - it’s poor value. The only positive note I can add is that it fits nicely into the space in the kitchen and looks OK. But I wouldn’t buy Samsung again

Excellent product apart from one annoying issue...

I bought a Samsung RF24R7201SR_SS about a month ago (Feb 2022) The quality is great, the design is stylish, it arrived well protected in the packaging, AO customer services have been very good, understanding and responsive. I have owned Samsung American style fridge/freezers since they started importing them into the UK, they have all been excellent and all have been very quiet - just a slight hum when the compressor was running - hardly noticeable, even up close. Obviously the ice making operation has to make a noise when the ice making tray fills with water and when the tray empties ice into the ice bucket - that's all fine and expected. There's only one issue that I have experienced and that is, when the cooling switches on and off, there's a lot of friction creaking and groaning, as the plastic ducting expands and contracts with many loud bangs numerous times a day, on occasions the noise is like someone has hit the appliance hard with a hammer. It's also loud enough to have woken me in the night. I thought this must just be a misfunctioning unit, something like a gasket was missed off during production. AO didn't quibble at all and sent a replacement out, the replacement does exactly the same thing. It's loud enough to make people ask 'what was that bang'. I can only presume this is a bad batch. I have owned well over 30 Samsung products over the years (appliances, TVs etc.) and every one has performed as I would have expected, so this appliance is a disappointment, it's not nice to have in the house.

Great fridge, but developed a fault quickly.

    3/5
I like the look and really like the general solid feel and layout of the doors and drawers. I would say the freezer feels a little small, but that's not a big deal for me. The fridge section is huge and well laid out, with some flexibility on where you want the shelves. The light is bright, the temperature is easy to control, and the app (smarthings) seems to work fine. However, after just a couple of months of use I noticed that there was water spilling onto the floor every time I opened the door. A slow leak has appeared in the ice/water dispenser. The AO website just directs you to the Samsung site for support. OA don't seem to be interested in the fault. The Samsung support site refused to allow me to open a support case because the model number was not recognised (even though the serial number was) - why do they need both? So I was force to call them, which was a rather painful experience with very poor call quality. The call took 31 minutes and was a total waste of time, I could have done it online in about 2 minutes. They have agreed to send an engineer to look at the fault. I will update this if I can after that has happened.

Solid fridge freezer with a few quirks

    4/5
Overall it's a good choice. Pros: - Plenty of storage - Feels solidly made - Like the extra cool drawer - Flexible main fridge shelves are useful Cons: - The water dispenser shrinks the size of the left door storage considerably - Right door storage not tall enough to have 2 rows holding taller bottles such as milk, only one row can be tall enough at a time with all 3 shelves fitted. - Wifi connectivity is pure gimmick and adds no value.

    good quality

No water filter included so could not connect to main water supply. Fortunately I had a spare, but I think it should be included if you have not had a similar fridge before.

    Perfect for what we needed

This fridge freezer is stunning. Picture doesn’t do it justice. Plenty of space in fridge and freezer. Ice maker can be a little noisy at times but we just turn it off at night.

Looks lovely and seems to function perfectly

The item looks great as a bit of kitchen furniture. The space inside is much more than we expected. Doors and drawers open and such smoothly and easily.

    Simply Brilliant

Our old fridge freezer started dying two years ago and this was our likely choice of replacement at the time. Somehow the old one limped on until just before this Christmas. I reviewed the market assuming things had moved on but the winner, based on spec, was still this one. AO delivered quickly and it was easy to install and plumb in. The layout of the fridge is impressive. Our granddaughter remarked, on opening the two upper doors, that it looked like a shop display, so many convenient places to store items. The Flexizone fridge drawer below gives you lots more storage and allows its temperature to be set separately depending on what you want to store, down to -1C for meat and fish. The freezer drawer at the bottom is surprisingly roomy and it divided into two bins with a sliding shelf above. It all runs very quietly. The chilled water dispenser provides a strong flow without the spurting and spitting of its predecessor, the ice cubes are a decent size and it provides crushed ice as well. It even connects to your ‘phone allowing you to control the temperature zones remotely and even provides push notifications (when a family member leaves a fridge door open)! I see no area for improvement.
