A sad Goodbye to the old and a warm Welcome to the new!

    5/5
I'd had my first and only previous microwave (Panasonic Genius) for over 16 years and never a moment's trouble. How many household appliances can you say that about (although my dear old Bosch dishwasher comes close). Anyway, it was brilliant! But then came the perhaps inevitable day when, with a minor explosion and alarming flash, my marvellous microwave died! I was only re-heating some soup, for goodness sake, but it obviously decided enough was enough, GloomI As if Brexit wasn't making things depressing enough. I searched for Microwave Repairman but there was no-one local and it seemed that a new microwave might make more sense than an expensive repair, So the search was on for the best replacement: "Which" reports, website reviews, the lot: if it was written, I read it. I hope I've found it. This has the Auto Sensor I wanted because I've used that so much on my old microwave. And in addition, for what I think is worth the extra cost, especially if it lasts as long as the old one, this offers all that a conventional oven and grill have to offer. What's not to like, in current speak! I have to learn new things about how to use it, and I'm not a spring chicken, but so far so good. Someone at Panasonic has gone to a lot of trouble to produce a clear and comprehensive instruction booklet, for which she or he deserves an award at the next HAIA (Household Appliance Instructions Awards) ceremony. 124 pages including photos and diagrams but also actual WORDS in actual SENTENCES which actually explain in accurate English what to do, what not to do and why. Not just a sheet of tiny pictures and symbols (Grisly Graphics) which leave you bewildered and close to tears. Reheating charts, Cooking charts and then a Recipe section. The display panel on the microwave even tells you in writing what to do next. I've also had rapid replies to a couple of my queries on the Panasonic website's Contact Us. So...I've only had this new microwave for a week, so I mustn't get carried away, but I'm feeling optimistic.

    Does not cook chicken fast

    4/5
I've had a few Panasonic Combis and they've all worked in basically the same way and cooked roast chicken fast. This one looks great. But works very differently. For some reason, the roast chicken programme takes twice the time as normal - and wants to preheat. I think that this is probably a great combi microwave but it feels like it will take quite a lot of learning...

Once you get used to the controls, by which time you should have read the manual several times, it's a good and quick to heat oven. It 's very good on sensor cook. A simple item, part cooked rolls, they cook perfectly, brown and crusty, top golden brown and soft in the middle. We cooked a 2kg beef joint exactly as per instructions, came out well done and not medium as requested, but, so soft it could have been cut with a blunt knife! Main negative; The external casing is rather sharp on the edges, makes it look cheap for an expensive item.

    Excellent All Round Performance

    5/5
I bought this to replace an existing Microwave and table top oven. This offers versatility in the combination of programs and sensor functions as well as standard microwave, grill and convection oven. The instruction manual is very comprehensive and makes using the microwave very easy. I mainly use the combination functions as these reduce the overall cooking time while tasting the same as if cooked in a conventional oven. A chicken which would have taken 1hr 25mins to roast in an oven took only 45 minutes on a combination program. The oven is easy to clean and the supplied accessories are very robust, the metal plate used on combination and grill functions has a very good non stick surface.

    Almost perfect

A very capable microwave oven. It is powerful and spacious. It has got some programs that make heating and cooking easier for the most popular dishes. Easy to clean, as all heating elements are concealed. The sensor function works nicely. There is no "direct" start(30 seconds) button, you have to select power, time and then press the start button. It is noisier then my previous one. The turntable doesn't turn very smoothly, it jerks sometimes. But overall it is an excellent oven that would be perfect if those small negative bits were to be fixed.

    Idiot Proof

Where do I start? AO is second to none even at this time of the Pandemic. Chris was not there so I was served by Hamina from home who reassured me she will be patient with me as Chris always is. The purchase was faultless and so was the delivery at 07.45 on the day delivery was scheduled. A delightful couple brought my purchase. As for this combi it does so many things I would not be able to use all the features in my lifetime. It’s idiot proof. If I can put it through it’s paces then anyone can. From the day I decided to buy this piece of kit I started reading the manual on line. When I opened the box and found it’s rightful place I retired to the comfort of my quiet corner and went through the manual from cover to cover. All 124 pages of it. The next day I followed the instruction to the letter periodically referring to the manual for reassurance. I am a bit thick you see. I decided to have a jacket potato for lunch with a cheese filling grilled on 1 for two mins. with bake beans. Full marks to thIs combi. I have done all the traditional thinks in this Combi. I am now graduating to the weigh and Automatic cook. The only criticism I have is that this combi has grown since I first set my eyes on it i.e because the contractor short changed me two inches at the spot which should have been its rightful home. I think the main oven will only be used at Xmas time if Miss Covid permits in-house gatherings. I must implore all purchasers that you must not only read the manual you must study it. If you do you will not need another combi in your life time, and I don’t care how young you are. You must take care of it according to the manufacturers instructions. But then again panasonic May invent one that takes the food out and serve it for you as well. A happy purchaser.

    Fully featured

When it comes to large combi microwaves, I’ve done the research, it’s either Sharp or this Panasonic. I’ve had a 3 Sharp’s over the last 20 years, they are larger than the Panasonic, but they haven’t changed the design much in that 20 years. The Sharp has a larger capacity, mainly in height, but the useable area is very similar. In my opinion, The Panasonic is a far superior device, dual cooks faster and is better in every respect. It takes a while to master all the features but it’s well worth it. the intelligent cooking works really well and If you need a large combination microwave, you will not do better than this. When I purchased this, the price was better at AO, rather than Amazon.

    Panasonic combination microwave oven

Very pleased with this oven which I got as a secondary oven when I have a lot of cooking on. I only use the microwave for reheating and this works very well. Instructions are clear, perhaps a bit too detailed. I tested the convection last night and that was a success. So far I am not so enthusiastic about the grill but maybe I need more practice. The oven is large and can accommodate good size dishes. Overall, I am very pleased with this nice looking oven.
