Don't buy this hob

We bought this hob and after a short while the rubber seal around the large hob started to come away, we were just about out of the guarantee period and had to purchase an extended warranty from Domestic and General in order to get it fixed, it took their engineers 3 visits and an entirely new ring before the fault could be resolved, unfortunately the fault has reoccurred within 6 months and we have had to call out an engineer again, It is worth noting Domestic and General only guarantee their repairs for 30 days, it was interesting to hear from the Hotpoint engineer that this was a common fault and was the result of bad design and was caused by the expansion and contraction of the 3 different materials used in the manufacture of the ring and only seemed to affect the large ring not the smaller ones. I contacted Hotpoint and they weren't in the least interested as the hob was out of guarantee, I'm sure like many people would expect a hob to last more than 11 months but even after a repair was carried out expect that to be the end of it.
Really not impressed with this hob especially as it is priced and described as a premium product.
It really has put me off buying any Hotpoint or their sister company products, I must say I am more disappointed by the customer service from Hotpoint than I am of the hob which is saying something.
