Not enough words to describe our disappointment

    1/5
This evaluation is in no way a criticism of AO. We had to replace our previous Stoves gas oven as it had gone wrong and was irreparable. You would think the specification of this more modern oven would have improved (or at least remained the same); but alas no. There is no longer the ability to: 1. Programme - so no longer can we go out for the day and set the oven to start at a preset time 2. Change between temperature scales - this oven only uses the gas-mark system - most recipes use centigrade 3. Know when it has reached the desired temperature - normally a light would flash, or similar and then stop when the oven was hot enough. Also, it comes with a largish grill pan but a tiny grill. Of course we knew some of this before purchase but there is zero competition for inbuilt double gas ovens. My advice to potential purchasers is to ‘go electric’ if you can. Stoves and their sister company (Belling) do not deserve your custom. We couldn’t change to electric as there is an inadequate power supply to the oven location, so it would have cost well over £1,000 to install

I had my previous Stoves double gas oven for over 20 years. It was brilliant. I bought this model as it was the updated version and the same size as my old oven (my old one went on the blink & similar size was essential) & I thought that it would have all the same functionality as my old one. I was wrong. I am unable to cook using 'auto' timer function which I did on a very regular basis. I guess that this is a H&S issue (?) but had it been obvious on the product description I would never have bought it. The finish of the product is less refined, knobs are rather 'cheap' looking & feeling. Such a shame, my last Stoves oven was brilliant!

The first cooker arrived however didn’t work. No replacement for 4 days!! Second cooked has worked so far. Nice looking oven, well made. Stainless steel finish looks nice in kitchen. Pleased with my purchase.

This model Stoves double gas oven was bought to replace our old Stoves double gas oven, which has given years of good satisfactory service. Unfortunately, the grill pan for the top oven is cheaply made compared to our old one, is a tight fit in the top oven cavity and makes an unpleasant grating noise when slid in and out in use, has sharp edges and doesn’t come with a handle. We’ve put this grill pan in the recycling and use the old one. There are 4 height positions for the top oven’s single shelf. The bottom oven has two (optional use) telescopic pull-out shelf rails and which is quite a good idea. There are 8 height positions for the bottom oven shelves of which there are two wire shelves supplied. Both the top and the bottom ovens only have one light in each, and that’s mounted at the back of the oven which means it shines brightly in your face when you look into the oven but doesn’t illuminate the oven evenly or even very well, as did our old oven which had two lights in each side wall in each cavity. So, poorly thought out in this newer model. The controls are very simple to use and are very basic – simply turn on and push the knob in to ignite the gas burners. There’s no automatic ignition as there was on our old oven, this may be a part of the fail-safe safety feature. There is a “beep” alarm for minute timer, but no programming facility. The bright touch screen LED display shows the time in 12/24-hour mode, and is easily seen in bright daylight. The volume of the alert “beeps” for the minute timer can be adjusted from 1 – 3. 3 being the loudest and is the default. The electric grill control is simply a turn on/off. The grill takes 2.5 minutes to reach full temperature, but seems to be economical in use according to my power meter. It’s a functional double gas oven with an electric grill, but it is evident that the quality of design isn’t the same quality compared to the older version which is a little disappointing. Other than that, everything works ok.

    Working fine eventually

Had to call an engineer as the oven cut out after 10 minutes due to an incorrect door seal having been fitted. New seal successfully fitted by engineer and at the moment appears to be working as it should.

Good oven except for the doors

    3/5
Our previous Stoves oven lasted over 20 years, hopefully this will be the same quality. It looks good and seems to cook fine so far. It has an electric grill, which we weren't sure about, but it seems fine so far as well. So the reason for my 3 stars...on our old oven, the doors would open and lie flat, so they were well out of the way. These don't do that and the result has been several quite nasty burns on the back of my fingers when I've been taking things out of the oven and I've caught my hand on the glass door. I dont understand why they don't lie flat like our old oven. It doesn't make sense to me and is a real design flaw, not to mention dangerous. I expected better from Stoves. I think they need to design a fix for this one.
