Great oven but poor advice, guidance, manual and fixing issues let it down

    4/5
Unpacking the oven was a nightmare. The picture notes stuck on the front warned of dire outcomes if you didn't support the oven correctly as you took the packaging off (big red crosses if it was not done correctly). Despite this, and the claim that if you didn't do it right they absolve themselves of any liability, there were ZERO hand grips to allow you to lift the oven and follow the guide. Extremely worrying and frustrating. Eventually, with sheets/blankets and sheets of polystyrene under the oven, we managed to get it out of its protective packaging. Whoever designed this process should be ashamed of themselves. The fixing of the oven to the cabinet was similarly poorly designed. To fix the oven there are screw holes drilled through the side of the left and right sides but to get to them you have to remove two covering side strips. To get to the screws for the side strips you have to remove the door (yes really, the whole thing). To remove the door you need to try to figure out where to find a star headed screwdriver attachment of the right size (which you have to guess as the manual gives ZERO help or reference and so it goes on. Eventually, with the help of a web guide (not Neff's) that I found, I noted that 263,349 other people had run into the same problem with the Neff oven sliding door judging by the recorded views the site had received. Once the door and side strips were removed, and the oven was put into the cabinet, you find that the ovens drilled holes do not align with the cabinet size that Neff say you should use. Who designed this for heavens sake? So putting it all back together again and living with hope that gravity alone should keep the oven where it should be (rather than fixing it into position as you should), I set about installing and testing it. Well this is where things improved. The oven looks good. The sliding door functions well and instead of having to lower it all the way down and push it into the base to get it out of the way, it pretty much does that for you. There is a little risk, entirely through inexperience, that when you close the door you may lift the door up before it has been sufficiently pulled out first. If you do, you cause stresses between the door and the hinges/guides rails that guide the door. The risk is that if you create pressure/friction between the door and its guide mountings, you could cause damage. You adjust to this quickly but I note it for your own 'warranty' protection. A quick but thorough cleaning later (it was not visibly dirty) I tested the oven for the various functions. The images used are not great and somewhat confusing. Having almost identical fan images that do completely different thing is another design issue I would change instantly given the chance. The door seal looked good. The inner light is perfectly adequate. The fast 'heat up' worked well and the stated temperature was pretty close bearing in mind the range you need to allow for 'highs and lows' that you must permit for the thermostat to stop/start. A week of tests later (and I have used it extensively), it performs well. The manual is not great when you try to understand how the trays (especially the grill pan) are supposed to fit into the guide rails at the base. Apart from the opening/packaging/advice and design/fixing issues, which are a one off, the oven is giving me what I need and I am glad to use it. However, with so many users clearly having problems between the manual and the ovens use, someone at Neff ought to take a serious look at the lack of useful help and advice that comes with the oven. I am loathed to knock off a star but my guess is that unless I do this advice will just get lost in the 5 star reviews, which is what I would have liked to give!

For someone in a wheelchair the slide and hide door with the non-tip shelves have made cooking safer for me. Easier access to the oven cavity also means I can no longer shirk oven cleaning! Unless using glass cookware when using the top shelf position you cannot see what is baking/cooking. I like being able to close the door whilst grilling which I could not do with my previous oven. Oven light is bright and illuminates all the cavity. Although not used the option to switch the light on when oven not in use, such as for cleaning purposes, is useful. Installation was quick and easy. Having only had the oven in place for a couple of days have not yet used all the different features. Having had a gas oven for over 30 years the transition has been easier than I thought.

    So far so good

We previously had a neff hide and slide oven that started making a loud annoying noise when cooling down, it was an old discontinued model that wasn't worth repairing. We bought this oven as we are used to the hide and slide door and really like that feature. The hide and slide door operates a bit different on this oven, the handle doesn't hinge and rotate when lowering the door like our old one but thats not really an issue. Minor negative points: The oven cable is quite short. The oven cable was a lot shorter than my old one, this was bit of an issue for me and meant i had to move connection boxes and such. The oven 'hand holds' used for actually lifting and carrying the oven are quite small and not the most comfortable, but seen as you only really move the oven once it again isn't really an issue. Positive points: The oven cooks evenly and consistently to the correctly timings. We previously always had to cook thing a little longer than the food directions. The slide out rack is useful. The oven light is bright and can see the food cooking clearly. We have only had it for a week but so far so good with no real issues.

    Perfect for my needs!

    5/5
Been wanting a Neff oven for ages and when my old oven packed up I took the opportunity to order one. The hide and slide door is just perfect for my tiny kitchen - such a relief not to have to worry about tripping when the door is open. There's so many other small things to appreciate as well. Just the fact the dials pop out when in use and push in when not is brilliant - means I never have to fret about accidentally leaving the oven on, as I know if the dials are pushed in that it must be switched off. The timer is super easy to use and has a notable, but nicely inoffensive alarm that will turn off itself after several beeps, so I don't feel the need to rush to switch it off immediately. The oven itself is also excellent. It's various settings are nicely explained in the manual with recommendations for different dishes. I have already cooked many of my favourites with great success - and this time without burning them on top, as my old oven tended to do from getting too hot! Circo-Roast setting is fab for veggies. Though I will say, while the manual recommends the basic settings for bread baking, I cooked some soda bread the other day on the CircoTherm gentle setting as an experiment and it turned out the best version of the recipe I've ever made - deliciously crusty (without being burnt!) and nice and soft but fully cooked inside. My only sorrow is that I would have liked to have a digital display of the oven temperature like some of the later models have. But for me that's a luxury more than necessity, as the twist dial for setting the temperature is perfectly adequate, and as the later models were unavailable at the time of purchase I decided I would rather have a workable oven now than wait an unknown time for one unnecessary feature. If you do a lot of baking that requires exact temperatures then the later models might serve you better, but for general home cooking/baking I'm finding the twist dial just fine. All in all just a fantastic product. Highly recommend. Very much looking forward to using it for our Christmas meal this year.

I have had my new neff B3ACE4HNOB oven now for a couple of weeks, the slide away door is the best thing that any manufacturer could have done. it makes it much safer to remove hot food from the oven by removing what could be a hazard .the door !as it let's you get much closer to your food to place it in the oven or remove it.it looks sleek and modern.one thing I don't understand is why oven manufacturers still put the oven light in the roof of the oven,as this is awkward to clean with the elements surrounding the light.I think it would be better having lights on both the sides. the fan works great along with the oven ,heats up in minutes. Overall it is a good all round modern oven looks great.

What can i say about this,. Well it brill, to say the least, the hide and slide door is a god send, more so it a small kitchen. Wife loves it, as she kept catching the door on her chins on our old one. Cooks evenly if i had to find one thing wrong that would be hard to do. If the wife happy , it means my life is . Great oven, Thanks Neff top marks

    In general a lovely cooker.

The oven looks great and so far is working well. My wife particularly likes the facility of a rapid initial warm up. She said it speeds up cooking time. The slide and hide door facility gives a more convenient loading and unloading of items to be cooked. The only gripe I have is that there is no way you can read or even see properly the model identification plate. The only time you can see that it is an identification plate is when you are halfway through the door opening motion and then it is impossible to read due to the fact that the door glass is dimpled with a black dot pattern. The only way you could get to the identification plate is to remove the complete door. NOT as easy task for myself. At the age of seventy five and partially disabled I would say almost impossible.
