Definitely not "Silent"
4/5
The main reason I chose this model was that it was a similar size and style to the hood it replaced. In terms of noise and performance, I think it is more noisy than I expected and no quieter than the hood it replaced. Performance so far seems to be about what I imagined, i.e. same as the old hood.
The description claimed it was "Silent" and highlighted this first in its key features, but that is a blatant lie in my opinion. To be fair, I think you would need to be very trusting to believe that by some miracle it would be "Silent", but then again someone might be fooled by the marketing lie into thinking this hood, unlike any other hood, does not make any noise. Due to the current stupid fashion of open plan kitchen/lounge, this means your hood's noise will annoy either you or your guests.
The hood requires 8 screws to attach it to the wall. Obviously most of these screws are in positions different to the hood it replaced, so need to be drilled in the new positions. Screws+plugs are only supplied for a solid wall, so you will need your own screws for a hollow wall fixing. It is supplied with a UK 3pin plug already fitted.
