Super TV, great picture and sound
5/5
I''m really pleased with this TV. Simple to set up, great picture and great sound. After a couple of days of viewing I can share my views on the Hisense 55 inchOverallVery pleased with picture and sound. Compatibility with my existing set up was great. I purchased a slightly longer higher spec HDMI cable and I am now using an ethernet cable to connect the TV to broadband rather than wifi. I''ll probably upgrade my Apple TV box to one with an ethernet cable. The Apple TV box gives Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos outputs on the Hisense, and I can really notice the difference in comparison to my old 50 inch 2021 4kHDR+ TVSound/PictureI have set Picture Mode to Enhanced (ACR) this setting enhances sound and vision for you based on input. As a test I switched from BBC Match of the Day, set to Enhanced (ACR) to Avatar. When I checked the Picture Mode in Avatar was set to Dolby Vision Light, choices included Dolby Vision Dark, Dolby Vision Custom and Dolby Game. This matched the input quality. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos logos flash up on screen when detected. When I switched back to Match of the Day the settings had switched back.If you leave the picture menu on screen and change the channel input you can see the picture mode change to match the source. A nice feature as you will always get the picture mode that matches the source. The picture quality was such that when watching Hans Zimmer Live in Prague, this was a sound test really, I realised I could see for the first time the dark backdrop designs behind the choir. On the old TV I thought this was just a dark curtain. When I then linked my Echo Studio through the optical port the sound quality was impressive. Again with Hans Zimmer Live in Prague accessing the sound menu to switch to optical and then to have a choice of Auto, Pass Through, PDI, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus shows the power of the Hisense. There were no issues with voice lag.I have used an Apple TV box for the last 5 years with Prime, Disney, Apple TV and Paramount+ streaming. This box also runs streaming apps for BBC iplayer, ITV etcI have set up and used the Vidaa system for streaming apps both through built in wifi and the ethernet connected to 500 m/b Virgin Broadband. This was very straightforward and again the quality of sound and picture was high but final picture and sound quality depends on what quality the apps actually stream at. I used Avatar as a test and I was very impressed with the detail in the picture quality. The scars on Stephen Lang''s face were vivid!I also set up Vidaa Voice and Alexa. I tested both but I think I need to refine what I say to improve results. Vidaa gave me three app streaming service options for Avatar, Avatar Way of the Water and some documentaries on the making of both Avatar films, around 8 separate programmes in all. Very clever. You can speak into the remote or the Vidaa app on your phone.I could also use the remote to select by voice the Picture Mode menu. The Vidaa app is clever as you can click an App icon to open a streaming channel, i''ve not seen anything like this. I also liked that the Hisense remote can control the Apple TV box. My 2021 old TV did not do this.First night we watched an episode of the Blue Planet. The colours and detail were fantastic. I know you can probably get better the more you spend but at this price i''m happy to invest in surround sound, decent cables, broadband and streaming apps to ensure the input quality is high.I must mention Vidaa again, very surprised at the number of free channels and apps that are available. Lots to explore here.A nice menu touch is audio only, click this option and the screen goes blank but sound carries on.The Hisense menu options are detailed but seem easier to navigate, also the software seems to automatically choose higher level options based on input quality, you only need to refine, not tell it what to do from scratch.I''ve registered for the 2 year warranty, standard form quite easy to find the serial number.Delivery was simple from AO through Expert Logistics. I chose a day for delivery between 7am and 7pm. They told me between 12 noon and 4pm the day before from 8am on delivery day I could track the delivery, number of stops away and a refined time.
