This is "plug and play" hob, powered from a standard 3-pin socket, so it is more limited in power than hobs that are hardwired in place by an electrician. Be aware that if you use more than two elements on max power, the hob will share power among them. It does this with switching electronics in the base and this makes a very audible and regular "clicking" that sounds like the ticking of a clock. It is not a quiet device! This is a known "feature" of this hob - we had a Bosch engineer out to look at ours and his service manual described the noise as normal - but there is no mention of it in the customer user manual. It's a perfectly good hob, but if this is likely to bother you and you have the wiring in place to hardwire in a more powerful unit, you might want to consider it.
