My son has autism and is limited in so many ways. His only 'friend' as he calls it has been the Apple IPad. We bought him his first I-pad in 2010 when he was 12 years old and have bought him every generation since then. We knew how much he enjoyed using his I-Pad, from accessing social media through to games he could play. He loves it because it is portable and can take it anywhere. It's always been easy for him to use and this has remained constant throughout the years. He watches films and uses the camera function to photograph things he's interested in. We have bought him every generation since then. We felt that to deny him was so unfair. The Apple I-Pad has been a god send for my son, without it, he struggles because it offers him control, something he struggles with in his daily life.
