Would be a lots higher marking if I could reach the controls ! There needs to be a warning on this product that you ideally need to be over 5ft 3 to operate this . I have to carry a dinning room chair and carry it into kitchen lean over the hob and put it on. The lighting isn’t too good more for decorative purposes rather than helping you to see what you are cooking. If the controls were easier to get at and lights stronger this score would be a lot higher, as it looks great :(

We bought the Haier Cooker Hood to replace a disastrous Automated AEG hood that cost us £1150 10 years ago that never, ever got fixed properly and never, ever worked properly, and to our surprise, nor did this. Every time we turned it on it blew all of our electrics out, so we contacted 'AO' and they were amazing, they gave us 3 options and we chose a replacement (3rd time lucky). They organised a delivery of a new hood within a few days, with them collecting the old hood the following Sunday - this gave us time to get the electrician out to do the job and box up the old one. The hood was promptly delivered and collected and the electrician re-fitted the new hood, and thankfully, its been superb! The suction on it is amazing - if you hold a thick kitchen paper towel near the vent, it whips it out of your hand! We have a large open planned kitchen and it is excellent at removing fish smells on the high boost setting. Yes, it is a bit noisy, but I'd rather have a bit of noise for a short time than a stinky home! It looks good and is a good replacement to our old one.

On the plus side, if you're prepared to tolerate the noise, the higher setting is incredibly efficient at doing its job, more than any cooker hood I've had. But then it's also much more expensive than any I've had! It looks and feels like excellent quality. The minuses outweigh this, however. The buttons are so discreet they are impossible to see until I've hit one at random and it lights up. Equally annoying is that we ordered this from the same range as the pure black hob and oven, so that they would all match, and the chimney is silver in the wider size. If we'd bought the smaller size we could have had a black chimney. Very odd. Equally, there is a really bright silver strip along the bottom, which looks like a much darker shade in the photo. Again, this doesn't go with the pure black aesthetic that we were trying to match with the rest of the products in the series and it makes it look like we've put a huge television over the hob! Finally, it's extremely loud, so loud you have to shout to talk over it, on all but the lowest setting, and that setting doesn't really do very much at all.
