Bad experience with Hotpoint

The freezer is well constructed and looks good.
Unfortunately within hours it had copious frosting a some ice over the drawers and door. We had to wait several days for a Hotpoint engineer to visit. He found a sizeable gap in the seal at the bottom. He solved the issue but several days later I decided to defrost the freezer as the melting ice had left marks and drips all down the drawer fronts. When we put the freezer back on the LED temperature display said 8 degrees. The warning sound was bleeping. It stayed that way. (The display had shown the set temperature of -18 immediately we switched it on the very first time.) Another call to ao and a very unsatisfactory conversation with Hotpoint.
They suggested we wait yet another 5 days for an engineer visit. I said I didn’t trust the freezer and wanted it replaced. Hotpoint told me that I couldn’t have a replacement one as we had ‘altered the product. This being we had switched the door round. There is nothing anywhere to say that give up your rights if you switch the door. Parts and instructions for switching are sent with the freezer. We were furious with the attitude of Hotpoint. (The freezer was still showing 8 degrees and the warning bleeping days later when it was collected.)
Fortunately ao were very helpful indeed and replaced the freezer with a different make.
So 5 stars to ao and zero stars to Hotpoint.
